In an ever-changing world, we want to ensure every child and teen is given the right tools to succeed.

When we created The Urban Camp, we envisioned a hub full of students engaged in learning valuable new skills in a fun and collaborative environment.

At The Urban Camp, we offer a unique opportunity for your children to embark on a transformative educational journey.

Our 2 and 4-week educational programs and camps in Vancouver and Whistler offer students a chance to delve into a wide range of subjects, from English to innovation, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and leadership to topics like circular economy, wellness, and mindfulness. But that’s not all – the highlight of our Vancouver programs is ‘The Urban Hackathon,’ an engaging event where Urban Campers can test their newly acquired skills and collaborate on innovative solutions.

Key Program Highlights:

  • Location: Vancouver + Whistler
  • Duration: 2 -4 weeks
  • Subjects: English, Innovation, Digital Skills, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Circular Economy, Wellness, Mindfulness
  • Exclusive Event: The Urban Hackathon and 1-week practicum for young adults (4-week program only).

The Urban Camp gives your children a world-class education experience beyond traditional classroom learning. Our programs are designed to empower youth with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the modern world.

If a trip to Vancouver is not feasible, please get in touch with us. We can talk to your child’s school to adopt our online programs.

Please remember that our screen time is the Good Kind of Screentime. Though our virtual sessions are not a direct substitute for in-person learning, they are designed to be engaging, hands-on, and interactive. We guarantee that your children will get mental exercise during our programs and be physically active and stimulated throughout. Our highly skilled, energetic and enthusiastic instructors will make this a priority.

Please find a camp that will suit your children, and we are more than happy to jump on a call with you to answer any questions you may have.

FAQs

Questions About The Urban Camp and Academics? We have the Answers!

You have 9 – 12 year old children:

How old do my children have to be to attend a camp?

They need to be at least nine years old to attend one of our 2-week camps.

Do they need to speak English to attend your camp?

They will enjoy the camp better if they are at least an A2 (according to the Common European Framework). Anything above this level is excellent!

However, if you prefer your children to learn English only, we can arrange that.

Are my children going to be together with 16+ years old students?

Not necessary. If you have children in the 9-12 year bracket, they will be placed with other campers similar to their age.

My children don’t have any experience in anything related to technology. Do they need to learn something before I send them to Canada?

No. All levels are welcome! All the topics we teach are relatively new for most of our campers, which means that 99% are beginner level.

I would love my children to learn all of this, but I can’t send them to Canada at the moment. What are my options?

We hear you and are happy to inform you that we teach all of the topics online, too! We also do our summer camps online using fun, engaging platforms that look and feel like video games or the metaverse! Take our word for it and see this as an opportunity to free up some time for yourself. While you do whatever you like doing, we will take care of your children, and teach them important skills for life. It surely is a wise investment into your children’s future.

You have 13-16 year old teenagers:

Do they need to speak English to attend your camp?

They will enjoy the camp better if they are at least an A2 (according to the Common European Framework). Anything above this level is excellent!

However, if you prefer your teenagers to learn English only, we can arrange that.

Are my teenagers going to be together with ten-year-old campers?

Not necessary. Your teenagers are placed with other campers similar to their age.

Are my teenagers going to meet people from other countries?

Our camps bring students from different countries and background together. Many campers are from Mexico and other LATAM countries and we are currently expanding to host students from Europe and Asia in the future as well.

Plus, they won’t get bored learning the same syllabus they learn at their school back home.

At The Urban Camp, your teens will PRACTICE their English and be exposed to different dialects and accents, while doing innovative, fun, hands-on projects that increase their skills in a variety of fields and topics.

Embrace this opportunity! Our camp is an incredible experience that will enrich your teens with opportunities for their future career and life!

Will our teenagers be in a class all day?

Oh no! First of all, we do not teach in regular classrooms. That makes this experience fun and exciting. Every day is different at The Urban Camp. Your teenagers will be learning about Technology and Entrepreneurship in a fun, hands-on environment. Camp feels more like an event, and classes feel like a lab. Add the tourism and wellness factor and you can be sure that your teens will enjoy it!

I want my teenagers to learn all this, but it is difficult for me to send them to Canada. What are my options?

We hear you, and are happy to let you know that we teach all topics online, too! We do our summer camps online using fun, engaging platforms that emulate video games or the metaverse! To put it another way: This is the good kind of screen time that will enrich your children’s future.

You have 17-18 year old students, living at home:

Is this camp appropriate for their age?

Of course it is! The camp for them is called Everything is Tech. Everything is Digital.

This Camp will take them on an interactive, fun ride to learn about the incredible industry of Tech. They will be able to try and test new technologies while they visit the beautiful city of Vancouver.

Your young adults will get involved in hands-on projects and explore the different types of careers available in the tech industry.

They will even be able to learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and visit some companies and startups to learn from their successes and mistakes.

In our camps, all Urban Campers start the day with a Wellness routine that includes physical movement exercises, mind exercises, and healthy eating conversations and tastings.

We also include visits to schools, colleges, and universities. Also, our immigration experts provide our Urban Campers with special tips and insights on how to come back to Canada to study, work, and potentially immigrate to Canada, if this is of interest to them.

Are my teens going to hang out with the younger campers?

Not necessarily. The older campers might see our younger campers in a particular workshop and may, if they so choose, mentor, lead, and direct the younger ones in a specific task. This will inspire, test, and grow your teen’s leadership skills.

If my child already knows some English; will they get bored?

This is nothing to worry about. We won’t be teaching English lessons per se. At The Urban Camp youth will be able to practice their language skills while also learning new jargon, creating unique and original projects, and learning skills they they will be using throughout their life.

Are 18-year-olds considered an adult in Canada?

In Canada, one needs to be 19 years old to be considered an adult. Minors won’t be able to enter clubs, bars or even buy alcohol.

Do you have any other long-term programs that include technology?

We have The Urban Gap program! This program is designed so that students can study and live in Canada for 3 to 6 months. This well-rounded program includes English lessons to reinforce communication skills and everyday language. Wellness is a significant component of this program and life and survival skills. Digital skills and entrepreneurship are part of daily lessons and each month students will learn a new skill. Students will also pitch a personal project towards the end of months 3 and 6.

We are very grateful for the magnificent workshop we attended where we had an introduction on what Digital Marketing is. We learned a lot, it was a great experience. We are very excited and eager to continue learning. The team has very positive energy.

Our kids accomplished something big!

(Parent in Colombia)

My daughter and her team faced something bigger than they are. They were scared at the beginning but they transformed this fear into a challenge. As a team and individually. They all played an important role as a team. Sara was an excellent leader, Valen was always helping my Gaby; who with her tiny magical eyes expressed how determined she was. She didn’t want to feel defeated. It was exciting to see not only the fact that this camp and the projects are very innovative but were also rewarded. The Urban Camp knows how to leave an impact on the child community.

(Parent in Colombia)

We are still very excited, emotional and happy for everything our children learned. Thank you to the team at The Urban Camp for your support and your passion to teach and mentor.
