Cybersecurity is a hot topic right now, and this is no surprise. Canadians had lost over $230 million to online fraud during 2021 and globally almost 6 billion accounts had their credentials compromised during data breaches over the same time frame.
In this course, we will take a deep dive into cybersecurity and learn how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe online. We will also to take a critical look at corporations and their use of our data.

Why is Cybersecurity important?
Cybersecurity is important because attackers are consistency learning new “tricks” and techniques to compromise our accounts and steal our identities. Yet individuals usually are slow to catch up, which keeps increasing the gap between the capabilities of attackers and the capabilities of individuals to stay safe. We’d like to help close the gap and make you aware of the dangers that are lurking online, how to recognize them, and how to protect yourself and your loved ones.
How familiar do I need to be with anything tech or with security concepts?
We don’t expect any previous knowledge about cybersecurity and as far as “tech” goes, basic familiarity with the internet and computers is a requirement. The rest, you’ll learn from us in a non-judgemental approach. We love to share our knowledge and as long as you bring a passion to learn, we’re sure that you’ll enjoy the course. Feel free to bring your questions to class, and we’ll be happy to answer them.
